D4 - Anti Viral Coating
DiOX D4 is an anti-viral fabric coating independently tested and effective against fungus, bacterial and viruses, including Coronaviruses.
It is a non-metallic solution and extremely durable and will continue to work after 20 washes.
About the technology
DioX D4 offers a patented and EPA registered technology for inhibiting the growth of a wide array of bacteria, mold, mildew, algae, fungi, and yeast on textile materials. This novel antimicrobial agent provides an invisible microbiostatic coating to inhibit the growth of odour causing bacteria. Due to the recent pandemic D4 has also been independently tested to rapidly reduce bacterial and viral pathogens greatly limiting the risk of contact contamination and infection.
DioX D4 produces a durable biostatic finish based on an aqueous solution of anchored trihydoxysilyl long chain quaternary ammonium salt. The long chain structure enhances antimicrobial efficacy using a mechanical mode of action (physically destroying virons), unlike heavy metals such as silver and zinc which have been shown to develop resistant strains of bacteria. D4 is extremely durable and remains effective after multiple launderings, cleanings and abrasion.
DiOX D4 has been tested in the UK by Cambridge University and in the USA by Situ Biosciences against both mammalian surrogate coronavirus and human coronavirus. In all these tests fabric treated with D4 is shown to significantly reduce to the point of eradication coronavirus, including SARS-COVID.
All our tests are conducted to ISO standards (ISO18184/19 – Determination of anti-viral activity on textiles) which records how fast pathogens are reduced on a fabric against a control. Given research has shown some viruses (including SARS-COVID) can remain on a surface and active for 72 hours it is imperative to ensure fabrics in high traffic areas do not contain pathogens and become the contact vector for cross contamination.
Unlike other antimicrobialcoatings, D4 has been tested against fungus, bacteria and viruses including the causes of both gastro and respiratory infections.
